Saxony-Anhalt is »Luther’s Land«: In Eisleben the pugnacious theologian was born in 1483 (and here he died in 1546), in Mansfeld he went to school, in Wittenberg he started his great reforms by nailing the »95 Theses« onto the church door in 1517.
From here and other towns of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, the Reformation spread in the whole country and beyond.
The authors of the lavishly illustrated book – historians, theologians, philosophers, German scholars – draw an image of this revolutionary epoch and its aftermath to the present day.
